On Monday morning, May 17, David and I found out that we were expecting! This news came as a bit of a surprise to us. It was such a different feeling getting in the car driving to work that morning knowing that from that moment forward our lives would never be the same.
On June 7 we went to our first doctor’s appointment, and she confirmed that I was in fact pregnant. This was our first chance to see our sweet baby on the ultrasound screen. I was 8 weeks at the time so there wasn’t too much to look at, but it was still an incredible feeling to see our little one. We were also able to hear the heartbeat, which was the most wonderful sound I have ever heard!

On August 28, Abby, Kristen and Lindsey threw us a gender reveal party, which was so much fun! The party gave us the chance to announce to all of our family and friends at one time that we were having a BABY GIRL! We revealed the gender by cutting into the cake, which was pink inside. We also announced that we would be naming her Sloane Marie Ferrell … Marie after both of our mothers’ middle names. David has taken to calling her The Sloane Ranger.

This is our most recent sonogram picture at 23 weeks
We are now 25 weeks and my belly is growing by the day! In fact, David asked Sloane the other day, “Sloane, what did you do with mama’s belly button?” It is slowly starting to disappear. Although, I still have one second grade student that still tells me I look skinny. I don’t think she realizes she doesn’t get grades in my class.
Two weekends ago my parents came over and helped us pull up our old carpet in the bedrooms and paint Sloane's room. She now has fresh carpet and paint! Our crib, changer and bedding also came in and we assembled the crib and changer. It's really starting to look like a nursery in there!
It is such a shame she won't have anything to wear...
I have my glucose test coming up on Monday. Here’s to hoping I get to keep enjoying my chocolate peanut butter ice cream! I have another appointment and check-up on October 20. I will have another ultrasound then, which will be our fifth. Apparently I have something called a placental lake that isn’t usually problematic but they like to keep an eye on it. I will just be thankful for all of the extra sonograms!
We will check in again soon! Hopefully before the next 25 weeks pass!
